Pastor Dorcas Responds to Accusations of Controlling Her Husband Rigathi Gachagua

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has finally addressed claims that she dominates her husband, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. These allegations surfaced after remarks made by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, who implied that she was the one pulling the strings behind her husband’s public actions.

While meeting with a group of church leaders in the United States, Pastor Dorcas strongly dismissed the accusations. She stated clearly that it was absurd to suggest that anyone could “sit on” or control a man as bold and influential as Gachagua, who continues to make waves in Kenya’s political scene.

“It’s laughable for anyone to claim that I control him,” she said. “This is a man who keeps the entire country talking — from the President to MPs. Everyone is always mentioning his name, calling him Wamunyoro. Does that sound like someone who can be dominated by his wife?”

Pastor Dorcas further explained why she often speaks before her husband at public functions. She noted that it’s not a sign of dominance but rather a reflection of their unity and mutual respect. According to her, they operate as a team that shares the same vision, values, and purpose.

“When he lets me speak first at events, it’s not because I’m in charge. We are simply one. There’s nothing unusual about standing side by side with your spouse and promoting shared values like family and faith,” she added.

Despite the public criticism, Pastor Dorcas made it clear that the negative comments will not shake her love and commitment to her husband.

She emphasized that she will continue to support him wholeheartedly — through prayer, encouragement, and by standing with him as he works towards making Kenya a better place.

Her comments come just days after Kimani Ichung’wah made personal attacks targeting her during a political event. The remarks caused uproar across the country, with many Kenyans condemning Ichung’wah for dragging Dorcas into political fights meant for her husband.

Critics from across the political divide rallied behind Pastor Dorcas, stating that Ichung’wah had crossed a line. They urged him to direct his attacks solely at Gachagua instead of involving his wife in matters she has nothing to do with.

The backlash intensified when a group of female leaders who support Gachagua demanded Ichung’wah’s arrest. During a passionate press briefing, they accused the MP of targeting women unfairly and called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to take swift action.

“We are aware of his constant targeting of women leaders. As women from DCP, we won’t stay silent. We are asking DCI to treat Ichung’wah the same way they handle other cases — investigate and arrest him,” one of the women leaders declared.

Another Gachagua ally, Njeri Kahiga, also slammed Ichung’wah’s statements. She described them as shameful and careless, especially considering Pastor Dorcas’ national impact.

Kahiga praised her for her tireless work in supporting widows, orphans, people struggling with mental health, and the empowerment of the boychild — calling her a role model for many across the country.

So far, Ichung’wah has not issued any apology for his comments, and the storm surrounding his controversial remarks continues to grow.
