Malala Claims Secret Night Meeting to Deploy Goons in Nairobi CBD
The Deputy Leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Cleophas Malala, has raised fresh concerns over what he described as a carefully planned move by the government to unleash hired goons in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) on Thursday, August 21.
Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon, Malala alleged that the scheme was hatched in a secret late-night meeting reportedly attended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to agree on strategies to deploy groups of goons to cause chaos in the city.
Malala claimed that the planned disruption was aimed at interfering with a peaceful procession organized by DCP supporters, who are preparing to welcome their party leader, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, upon his return from the United States.
He accused government officials of attempting to frustrate the event by introducing violence in the city center.
The former Kakamega Senator went further, alleging that part of the plan would be carried out through the involvement of certain political figures.
He singled out two Members of Parliament whom he claimed had already given direct instructions to the hired groups.
According to Malala, these individuals had allegedly directed the goons to terrorize citizens, destroy property, and loot businesses within the Nairobi CBD.
“We have credible information that Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen held several secret meetings. In these meetings, they agreed to activate state-sponsored goons who will cause injuries to innocent Kenyans,” Malala stated.
He went on to name Makadara MP George Aladwa and Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, alleging that the two had passed down specific orders to the goons.
Malala claimed that their instructions were to vandalize property, loot businesses, and physically harm members of the public.
In his remarks, Malala sternly warned Sakaja and Murkomen against pursuing such a dangerous plan. He urged the Nairobi business community to remain vigilant and to be ready to protect their shops and investments from possible attacks.
Apart from raising concerns about the deployment of goons, Malala also touched on another issue that he claimed was part of the government’s wider scheme.
He alleged that there were discussions within government circles to divert Rigathi Gachagua’s flight from its scheduled arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to land either in Kisumu or Mombasa.
However, Malala was quick to dismiss the alleged plan, insisting that wherever Gachagua’s flight lands, the DCP had already made adequate logistical preparations.
He assured supporters that whether in Nairobi, Kisumu, or Mombasa, Gachagua would still be received by large and enthusiastic crowds.
Malala’s remarks come just hours before the former Deputy President is expected back in the country. His anticipated arrival has already sparked political tensions, with the DCP mobilizing thousands of supporters for a grand reception.
The allegations, if true, paint a picture of a deepening standoff between government officials and the opposition party, raising fears of possible unrest in the capital.
