Several police stations in Embu and Machakos counties have announced a major auction involving dozens of uncollected vehicles and motorcycles.
Two licensed auctioneers have issued notices confirming that more than 50 motorcycles, motor vehicles, and other items that have been lying idle in police yards and offices will soon be disposed of through public auction.
In a gazette notice published on August 26, Petfriend Auctioneers revealed that at least 15 motorcycles currently being held at Kiritiri Police Station in Embu will be auctioned within the next 14 days if their rightful owners fail to claim them.
The motorcycles include well-known brands such as Captain, Sonlink, Tiger, Hadjin, Skygo, TVS, and Boxer.
According to the notice, the decision has been made under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38, Laws of Kenya) and is backed by orders issued in Miscellaneous Application Case No. E39 of 2025 at the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Siakago.
Owners have been advised to collect their motorcycles within the given notice period; otherwise, the items will be sold through a public auction or private treaty by Petfriend Auctioneers at their offices in Kikuyu Town, Nairobi.
“If the motorcycles are not collected within the 14-day notice, they will be auctioned without any further warning,” the auctioneers stated.
Auction at Matuu Police Station
In addition to the Kiritiri auction, Petfriend Auctioneers also announced that they will conduct a much larger sale at Matuu Police Station in Machakos County. This auction, scheduled to take place within the next 30 days, will include over 40 motorcycles, 6 motor vehicles, bicycles, scrap, and assorted carts.
The motorcycle brands to be auctioned are Ranger, Skygo, Dayun, Sonlink, Bajaj, Flyjet, Honda, Tiger, Yamaha, Shinel, Boxer, Delight, and Jincheng.
The list of motor vehicles is also diverse and includes a Toyota Sprinter, Mazda, Nissan Sunny, Toyota G, Mercedes Benz E190, and a Kast wreck.
This notice has also been issued under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap. 38, Laws of Kenya) following orders in Miscellaneous Application Case No. E113 of 2025 at the Principal Magistrate’s Court in Kithimani.
Owners have been cautioned that failure to claim their vehicles and motorcycles within the stipulated time will leave the auctioneers with no option but to proceed with the public sale.
