Ruto Appoints Sitati Olando as Acting Head of Government Delivery Unit
President William Ruto has made a key appointment in his administration by naming Sitati Olando as the new acting head of the Government Delivery Unit (GDU). The appointment takes effect immediately.
The official communication was delivered through a letter signed by Principal Administrative Secretary Arthur Osiya, who acted on behalf of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.
The letter confirmed that Olando would now take over the leadership of the unit, which plays a central role in tracking and ensuring the government meets its promises and commitments.
In his new role, Sitati Olando will report directly to Eliud Owalo, the Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Delivery and Government Efficiency at the Executive Office of the President. This reporting structure ensures that Olando will be closely involved in the monitoring of government programs and policies to improve service delivery.
Before this promotion, Olando had been serving as the Director of Delivery in the same unit, where he was responsible for supervising the implementation of various projects. His elevation has also brought an immediate change in leadership, as it resulted in the revocation of Lee Kyonze’s appointment. Kyonze had been holding the position in an acting capacity until now.
According to the statement from President Ruto’s office, the government has already begun the formal process of recruiting a substantive Head of the Government Delivery Unit.
This process is being carried out in close consultation with the Public Service Commission to ensure transparency and merit-based selection.
The appointment of Olando is seen as part of President Ruto’s broader strategy to strengthen performance management in government. By placing trusted figures in key positions, the administration hopes to enhance efficiency, accountability, and delivery of services to the Kenyan people.
