Former President Uhuru Kenyatta used his latest public address at the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference to sharply criticize the leadership of President William Ruto.
He accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of abandoning policies that were already working and replacing them with decisions he described as rushed and untested.
According to Uhuru, the current government is slowly undoing progress made during his tenure and ignoring the needs of ordinary Kenyans.
Uhuru said he handed over power peacefully and with respect, but he feels the goodwill of that transition was not reciprocated.
He expressed disappointment that some leaders in government continue to attack his legacy while failing to address economic hardships facing citizens. He warned that leadership built on anger and bitterness creates division instead of solutions.
He also challenged those in power to focus on service, not propaganda. In his speech, Uhuru said that national leadership should not be about proving personal points or settling political scores.
He maintained that decisions affecting millions of Kenyans should be informed by experience, planning, and unity of purpose.
The former president further told Jubilee members to stay firm and not be intimidated or lured into abandoning the party.
He called for political discipline and reminded supporters that Jubilee was founded on clear values and a national agenda.
He encouraged them to prepare for the future rather than remain silent in the face of what he called poor governance.
Uhuru’s speech has sparked reactions across the political divide, with allies praising his courage and critics accusing him of interfering with the current administration.
His remarks have also reignited debate about the economic direction of the country and the strained relationship between him and President Ruto.
