Oburu Oginga Declares Himself a Gen Z as He Campaigns for ODM Candidate Harrison Kombe in Magarini

Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga sparked excitement during ODM’s campaign rally in Magarini after declaring that he is part of Generation Z.

Addressing the crowd, Oburu said, “Mimi ni Gen Z na ODM ni chama cha Gen Z kama mimi,” meaning “I am Gen Z, and ODM is a Gen Z party like me.” His remarks left the crowd cheering and laughing, but the statement also carried a strong message about ODM’s connection with young people.

Oburu was in Magarini to lead campaigns for ODM candidate Harrison Kombe ahead of the upcoming by-election.

He urged residents to support Kombe, describing him as a dedicated leader who understands the needs of the people. Oburu emphasized that ODM remains the people’s party — inclusive, energetic, and committed to uplifting the youth.

He said the youth are the backbone of Kenya’s future and that ODM stands ready to empower them through opportunities in education, jobs, and leadership. “The young generation is the engine that drives our nation forward. ODM is here to work with you, listen to you, and help you achieve your dreams,” Oburu told the crowd.

The ODM campaign team, which included several senior party officials, accompanied Oburu as they drummed up support for Kombe. They urged voters in Magarini to turn out in large numbers and vote for the ODM candidate, saying the party has a proven record of standing with ordinary Kenyans.

Oburu’s humorous yet symbolic statement that he is “Gen Z” highlighted ODM’s efforts to appeal to younger voters. His message was clear — that ODM understands the struggles and aspirations of Kenya’s youth and is committed to being their voice in national leadership.

He called on the youth to stay united, reject political division, and focus on leaders who represent progress and development. “ODM is your home, and together we can build a future that works for every young person in this country,” he added.

The Magarini rally ended with chants of support for Harrison Kombe as ODM promised to continue promoting youth-centered policies and empowering the next generation to take active roles in shaping Kenya’s future.
