A heated political exchange has erupted between President William Ruto’s close aide, Farouk Kibet, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya after a tense incident in Malava, Kakamega County.

During a recent event, Farouk Kibet accused Governor Natembeya of trying to stop him from visiting Malava, asking, “Natembeya says I should not visit Malava; is that possible?”

He further claimed that Natembeya was blocking development in Western Kenya by undermining government projects meant to benefit locals.

Natembeya quickly fired back, saying he would not be intimidated by anyone because of their closeness to the President. “Do not think that because you are close to the President, you can lecture us. I do not fear you; come and face me,” he said.

The governor also accused the national government of neglecting Western Kenya and warned against leaders using state power for personal influence.

Although some reports claimed President Ruto harshly responded to Natembeya, there is no verified statement confirming that. Analysts believe the President is avoiding direct involvement to prevent escalating the tension further.

The clash between Kibet and Natembeya has revealed growing political rifts within the ruling coalition and heightened rivalry in Western Kenya.

Residents say the leaders should focus on development instead of personal battles, as the confrontation continues to fuel political tension in the region.
