Kuria Alleges Ksh10 Million UDA-Linked Plot to Attack Gachagua

Kuria Alleges Ksh10 Million UDA-Linked Plot to Disrupt Gachagua’s Campaign Tour

Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) Party Leader Moses Kuria has made serious claims that a plan is underway to disrupt Democracy for Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua’s upcoming campaign tour.

According to Kuria, the alleged plot involves individuals linked to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who intend to stage chaos during Gachagua’s political rally over a supposed Ksh10 million debt.

In a statement shared on Tuesday evening, Kuria said that some UDA members were planning to disguise themselves as CCK supporters and attend Gachagua’s events wearing CCK uniforms.

Their goal, he claimed, was to create confusion and make it appear as though CCK members were responsible for the disturbances.

“It has come to our attention that certain UDA operatives are planning to cause trouble during Rigathi Gachagua’s campaign tour while pretending to be CCK members. They will also claim that Hon Gachagua owes our candidate, Hon Duncan Mbui, Ksh10 million,” Kuria said.

The former Cabinet Secretary and current Presidential Advisor revealed that the group allegedly planned to confront Gachagua during his rallies and demand Ksh10 million, claiming that the former Deputy President had borrowed the amount from Duncan Mbui — CCK’s candidate in the upcoming Mbeere North by-election.

However, Kuria dismissed these claims as completely false and misleading. He clarified that there is no financial disagreement between Gachagua and Mbui, insisting that such rumors are intended only to damage reputations.

“For the record, Hon Gachagua does not owe any money to Hon Mbui, and any statement suggesting otherwise should be dismissed with the contempt it deserves,” Kuria stated.

He described the alleged plan as a politically motivated scheme aimed at tarnishing both Gachagua’s and CCK’s image. Kuria also warned that such actions could fuel political divisions and instability as Kenya moves closer to the 2027 General Election.

The outspoken leader emphasized that his party maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of political violence or provocation.

He said that CCK had learned valuable lessons from the 2007–2008 post-election crisis and would not participate in or tolerate actions that could incite conflict or threaten peace.

Kuria Calls on IEBC to Act

Kuria urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to look into the alleged plot and take immediate preventive action before the planned campaign event on November 27.

“What might happen on November 27 could be a warning sign of what may unfold during the 2027 General Election if these schemes go unchecked,” he cautioned.

Ruto-Gachagua Rift Deepens in Mt Kenya Politics

Meanwhile, the upcoming Mbeere North parliamentary by-election has become a key political battleground, reflecting the growing political tension between President William Ruto and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The race is being closely watched as a test of influence and political strength in the Mt Kenya region.

The United Opposition has thrown its support behind Newton Karish of the Democratic Party, while the ruling UDA party is backing Leonard Muthende.

Analysts believe that the outcome of the by-election could provide an early indication of the region’s political direction ahead of the 2027 polls.

Kuria’s remarks have added another layer of intrigue to an already tense political atmosphere, with calls for restraint and accountability as the campaign season intensifies.
