President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki have jointly donated Ksh10 million to the family of the late gospel singer Betty Bayo.
The generous contribution was made on Thursday, November 20, coinciding with the day of Bayo’s funeral, and is intended to provide support for her young children during this difficult time.
At the funeral held in Kiambu, DP Kindiki revealed that he had contributed Ksh5 million, while President Ruto donated an equal amount of Ksh5 million. “I will help Betty’s children with Ksh5 million.
President Ruto has also sent me with Ksh5 million,” Kindiki said. He added warmly, “Send me the account number, and I will ensure the money reaches the family. May God bless you, your businesses, your farms, your families, and all that you own.”
This donation follows an earlier contribution from former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who gave Ksh1 million to assist with funeral arrangements and to honor the life of the late singer.
Uhuru had also made a promise to support Betty Bayo’s family, requesting the names of her children so that their education could be sponsored through the Kenyatta Foundation.
In a heartfelt message, former President Kenyatta described Betty as “an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music touched countless hearts and brought hope to many across the country.”
He celebrated her dedication to gospel music, her unwavering faith, and her positive influence on those around her.
He emphasized that “Betty’s legacy will live on through her children, her music, and the many lives she inspired.”
Betty Bayo passed away on Monday, November 10, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Her family disclosed that her health had worsened significantly a week prior to her passing.
Signs of her declining health had first appeared in August 2025, when she was hospitalized and shared a photo on social media showing herself wearing an oxygen mask.
Betty Bayo rose to prominence in the Kenyan gospel music scene with her iconic hit song 11th Hour, which continues to remain a favorite among fans even 13 years after its release.
Her music, faith, and dedication to ministry left a lasting impression, making her one of Kenya’s most celebrated gospel artists.
