Beryl was married to the late Otieno Ambala, former MP for Gem, who died in 1985. Her passing has left a deep void in the family and among the larger community who admired her strength and resilience.

Amid preparations to give Beryl a dignified farewell, the family faced further sorrow with the death of her stepdaughter, Adongo Ambala. According to an obituary published in a local daily, Adongo passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025.
The obituary read: “It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden passing of Adongo Ambala.”
Adongo had been working with the Kisumu County government and was known for her dedication to public service. She was the daughter of the late Gem MP, Otieno Ambala, and her biological mother was Nancy Ambala.
Adongo was a devoted mother to three children: Iris Apiyo, Sophie Adongo, and Finn Okello. She was also the stepdaughter of the late Perez Ambala and the late Beryl Odinga.
