Naivasha, Kenya — New unverified reports on social media say Tirus Kamau Githinji, the driver of the bus that collided with the vehicle of former MP Cyrus Jirongo on 13 December 2025, is currently hospitalized in critical condition with a severely swollen stomach.
According to multiple posts on platforms including Facebook and X, eyewitnesses and individuals close to the case claim that Githinji sustained serious injuries in the head-on crash and was rushed to a medical facility, where doctors have described his condition as critical and his stomach as markedly swollen.

The collision occurred on the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway at Karai, Naivasha, when Githinji’s Climax Company bus, reportedly carrying 65 passengers, was struck head-on by Jirongo’s Mercedes-Benz. Emergency responders pronounced Jirongo dead at the scene.
In statements recorded at the scene, Githinji said he had tried to avoid the crash after Jirongo’s vehicle swerved into his lane, a split-second decision he said was made to avoid overturning the bus with passengers on board.
