Notorious Goon Mobiliser Arrested Shortly After High-Level Security Meeting

A man believed to be behind the mobilisation and funding of criminal gangs in Trans-Nzoia County has been arrested in a major security operation that took place shortly after a high-level meeting of top security officials in Nairobi.

According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the arrest was the result of a carefully planned and coordinated operation involving multiple elite security units.

Officers drawn from the DCI headquarters, the Administration Police, and the General Service Unit (GSU) worked together to track down individuals suspected of fueling organised criminal activities in the region.

The suspect, described by detectives as a key figure in the network, is accused of playing a central role in recruiting and financing groups of goons responsible for causing chaos and insecurity in Kipsongo and nearby areas.

Authorities believe he has been instrumental in organising these groups and providing them with resources to carry out unlawful acts that have troubled residents for some time.

Investigators revealed that the arrest followed credible intelligence that led officers to conduct a targeted raid at the suspect’s residence in Trans-Nzoia.

During the operation, security officers carried out a thorough search of the premises and recovered several items believed to have been used in coordinating criminal activities.

These included reflector jackets, stickers, weapons, and other materials commonly associated with organised goon operations.

In a related crackdown aimed at dismantling the wider network, detectives also conducted raids in Mitume and Miti Moja areas of Kitale.

During these operations, eleven more suspects were arrested, all believed to be connected to the same criminal group. The arrests highlight what authorities say is a well-organised structure behind the unrest in the region.

Security officers also recovered various items suspected to have been stolen from members of the public.

Among the items seized were laptops, gas cylinders, and other household goods, further strengthening the case that the group has been involved not only in violence but also in theft and looting.

The DCI confirmed that all the suspects are currently in police custody, where they are undergoing processing as preparations are made to present them in court.

At the same time, investigators have intensified efforts to track down other members of the network, including those believed to be financing and coordinating the criminal activities from behind the scenes.

This major development comes just hours after a crucial security meeting held at Bunge Towers in Nairobi.

The meeting brought together top officials, including Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Mohamed Amin, who appeared before the Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations.

The session was chaired by Isiolo Senator Fatma Adan Dullo and focused on rising concerns over the increasing activities of organised criminal groups in different parts of the country. Lawmakers raised alarm over the growing threat posed by these groups and called for urgent and decisive action from security agencies.

While addressing the committee, Inspector General Kanja issued a strong warning to individuals involved in organising and financing such gangs. He stated that the National Police Service had already identified several key players behind these activities and assured the public that firm action would be taken against them.

Kanja further emphasized that the government is committed to restoring order and ensuring public safety across the country.

He noted that security agencies are on high alert, especially with upcoming public gatherings such as the planned Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu.

According to him, adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee that such events take place peacefully without disruption.

The arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing efforts by security agencies to crack down on organised crime networks and restore stability in affected regions.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to pursuing all individuals involved, warning that no one found supporting or participating in such activities will be spared under the law.
