Oburu Oginga Calls for Unity Among ODM Leaders as Internal Rifts Deepen Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nairobi – Senior politician Oburu Oginga, who is also associated with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has issued a strong and reflective message to party leaders, urging them to remain united despite growing political differences within the party as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election.

In his message shared on Sunday, May 3, Oburu said he had spent time thinking deeply about the direction of the party and the responsibility that leaders carry.

He emphasized that although disagreements are normal in politics, they should never destroy the shared values and purpose that hold the party together.

Oburu noted that the strength of ODM lies in its diversity, but warned that this strength can only be meaningful if leaders continue to respect and support one another.

He encouraged leaders to remember their common mission even when they differ on policies and strategies.

He stated that it is possible for leaders to debate and disagree on political ideas without losing respect for each other’s humanity or the bigger goal of serving citizens.

According to him, political differences should not turn into personal conflicts or divisions that weaken the party.

The veteran politician further appealed to his colleagues in leadership positions to put aside personal interests and instead focus on building a united and stable political movement.

He stressed that the future success of the party depends on teamwork, discipline, and a shared vision that prioritizes the needs of ordinary citizens.

Oburu also called for a leadership culture that values peace, respect, and cooperation. He urged leaders to avoid actions that create divisions and instead focus on building bridges that strengthen unity within the party.

He added that the main goal should be to ensure ODM remains a strong, stable, and people-centered political party that can serve the nation effectively and responsibly.

In his closing remarks, Oburu wished fellow leaders and supporters a peaceful and reflective Sunday, encouraging them to remain thoughtful about the future and the importance of unity in leadership.

The message comes at a time when internal tensions within the Orange Democratic Movement have been increasingly discussed in political circles, especially as various factions position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, the remarks were made in Nairobi, where much of the country’s political activity continues to be centered.

Oburu Oginga’s appeal is widely seen as a reminder for leaders to focus on long-term stability and cohesion rather than short-term political competition.
