Eric Muuga, the newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation, made headlines today following his swearing-in ceremony at State House, Nairobi.
President William Ruto presided over the ceremony, marking a pivotal moment as the new officials took their oaths of office, officially assuming their roles within the government.
In a notable revelation during his vetting by the National Assembly’s Appointments Committee, Muuga disclosed that he had never owned a car in his life.
The 32-year-old Meru native, who is the youngest member of President Ruto’s second Cabinet, was presented with a high-status official vehicle, complete with the national flag, immediately after the ceremony.
This gesture symbolizes his new role and the prestige associated with his position.
Outside the venue, a significant scene unfolded as officials diligently affixed official flags to the newly assigned vehicles of the cabinet members.
The flags, a symbol of their new roles, adhere to the National Flag, Emblems, and Names (Amendment) Act 2014, which governs the display of national symbols.
Muuga, who had previously prioritized investments over personal luxury, revealed his wealth amounts to KSh 31 million.
His assets are primarily invested in agriculture, including farms where he cultivates cash crops such as tea, coffee, bananas, and miraa.
