President William Ruto has recently addressed the issue of individuals posting manipulated images online that depict him and other political leaders in coffins.
He expressed deep concern over this trend, warning that such actions could lead to a dangerous erosion of societal morals and potentially incite real-world violence.
Ruto emphasized that engaging in these activities not only disrespects leaders but also sets a harmful precedent that could extend to targeting family members and friends.
In his statements, President Ruto urged the youth to refrain from participating in these online misrepresentations.
He highlighted that some politicians might be exploiting young people by encouraging them to create and share such content for political gain.
Instead of engaging in these negative behaviors, Ruto encouraged the youth to utilize digital platforms constructively, suggesting that they focus on creating opportunities for employment and personal development.
The President’s remarks come amid reports of abductions of youths believed to be involved in anti-government campaigns online.
While some of these individuals have been found alive, others remain missing. Ruto’s comments underscore the importance of maintaining good morals and character, both online and offline, to prevent the self-destruction of the younger generation.
He called on parents to instill upright morals in their children and cautioned against the misuse of social media to insult others.
