Controversial Kenyan preacher Prophet David Owuor has publicly responded to claims by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale that he recently travelled to Italy for knee surgery, despite being widely known for preaching about miraculous healings.
In a firm and strongly worded statement shared on his official social media platforms on Thursday, January 29, Owuor dismissed the remarks, describing them as false, misleading, and not backed by any verified facts. He insisted that the claims were unfair and misrepresented both his recent travels and his ministry.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Repentance and Holiness, the allegations attributed to CS Duale were inaccurate and did not reflect the truth.
The ministry stressed that suggestions claiming Prophet Owuor underwent medical treatment abroad were completely untrue.
“The Ministry of Repentance and Holiness strongly refutes recent public remarks attributed to CS Aden Duale regarding Prophet Dr. David Owuor.
The statements alleging that the Prophet of the Lord underwent medical procedures are false, unverified, and misleading,” the statement read.
Addressing the issue of his recent trip, which Duale had mentioned during a televised interview, Owuor clarified that he had travelled to Europe on an official international mission.
He explained that the visit was purely for ministry purposes, including holding revival meetings and continuing his religious work focused on repentance, holiness, and preparation for the coming of the Messiah.
The statement further noted that during the period in question, Prophet Owuor was actively engaged in spiritual activities across Europe and was not receiving any form of medical treatment. It also confirmed that he has since returned to Kenya after completing his mission abroad.
In his response, Owuor expressed concern over what he termed as the growing spread of unverified information being presented to the public as fact.
He called on government leaders, media personalities, commentators, and the general public to act responsibly and ensure accuracy when discussing matters related to faith and religious leadership.
He also urged the media to uphold fairness and factual reporting, emphasizing that his ministry deserves the same respect accorded to other faith-based organizations and religious expressions.
“Our ministry gatherings are centered on prayer, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ. Many attendees share testimonies of spiritual renewal and healing through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
These are matters of faith and belief and should be treated with the respect given to all religious practices,” the statement added.
The response came shortly after CS Duale made the remarks on Wednesday night during an interview on Citizen TV. During the discussion, Duale claimed that Prophet Owuor had travelled abroad for knee surgery and questioned why a preacher who claims to heal the sick would seek medical care outside the country.
He further linked the issue of miracle claims to past religious tragedies, including the 2022 Shakahola incident.
The controversy surrounding Prophet Owuor has been ongoing and intensified in December 2025 when he claimed that several individuals had been healed of serious illnesses, including HIV and AIDS.
During those events, he presented medical professionals whom he said had initially tested the individuals and later confirmed that their results had turned negative.
Following those claims, the government launched investigations into the matter. CS Duale called for action against the medical practitioners involved, arguing that such claims must be scientifically proven to protect the public and maintain professional standards.
Duale warned that doctors who participated in the rallies and supported unproven healing claims risked facing serious disciplinary measures.
These included suspension or revocation of their medical licenses for professional misconduct and violation of medical ethics if they failed to provide scientific evidence to support the claims.
As the debate continues, the issue has sparked wider discussions on faith healing, medical ethics, and the responsibility of religious leaders and government officials in addressing sensitive matters involving health and belief.
