A lorry transporting a potentially deadly cargo of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) erupted into flames into flames near Fedha estate at Stage Mpya in Nairobi county.
The gas tanker detonated near a busy bus terminal, unleashing a towering column of smoke that quickly engulfed the area, as documented in harrowing photos and video clips.
Witnesses captured the terrifying scene on camera as billows of thick smoke blanketed the vicinity, marking the aftermath of the gas tanker explosion.
Emergency responders sprang into action, evacuating residents from the area as a precautionary measure, while authorities worked to unravel the mystery behind the incident and ensure the safety of all involved.
A crowd of onlookers, including area residents and business owners, congregated at the scene, their collective presence serving as a stark reminder of the gas explosion that rocked the Embakasi area just months ago.
Fire fighters arrived at the scene on time and managed to douse the fire.
Images from the scene show an Embasavva 14-seater matatu and the tanker burnt to bare metal.
“With no passengers aboard, the matatu was solely driven by the driver, who, after being stuck, moved the vehicle before it exploded, leaving both the matatu and truck drivers unharmed,” said eye witness.
