Harrowing CCTV footage has revealed the final movements of a 12-year-old Grade 7 pupil before she was found murdered in Embakasi on Saturday, December 6.
The girl, identified as Patience Mumbe, was discovered dead inside KAA Estate in Embakasi under circumstances detectives strongly believe point to a planned homicide. Fresh evidence gathered from the scene and the CCTV recordings has intensified investigations.
In the first CCTV clip, Patience is seen leaving her home in Pipeline Estate and running towards Outering Road. The timestamp on the footage shows 6:34 p.m., and at this point, nothing unusual appears in her behaviour.
A second camera spotted her moments later, this time walking quickly through the estate still heading toward Outering Road. Unlike the earlier footage where she was running, she had now slowed down and was moving briskly.
A striking detail from this recording is that she briefly looked over her shoulder, as though checking if someone was behind her or watching her movements.
A third CCTV clip captured her heading toward the busy matatu stage commonly known as Taj Mall terminus.
This clip appeared roughly two minutes after the first one, and it is believed to be the last recorded sighting of Patience before she went missing.
Investigators noted that there was no clear sign of anyone following her in the videos. At the time, she was dressed in a white top and black jeans.
Her body was found about 48 hours later, sparking shock and fear across the Embakasi community. A witness who saw the scene said there were clear signs of a violent attack.
Her hands and legs were reportedly tied with rope, and she had severe injuries, including bleeding on her face and private parts, suggesting she may have been assaulted before being killed.
Detectives from Embakasi Police Station, working closely with the Nairobi Area Crime Unit, have launched a full investigation.
On Sunday, just a day after the discovery, officers returned to the crime scene for a more detailed search to gather any additional evidence that could help trace the killers.
Apart from analyzing the CCTV recordings, investigators are also reviewing vehicle movements, communication records, and other digital trails within the neighbourhood to identify possible suspects and understand Patience’s last interactions.
The incident has caused deep worry as it becomes the fourth child-related kidnapping case reported in the Embakasi area within a month.
Residents are now living in fear, especially with Christmas approaching, and they are pleading with authorities to boost security patrols and protect children in the community.
