The community of Makueni County is mourning the loss of Magdalene Kalembe, a nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.
The wife to the late former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile passed away on Tuesday night after a brief illness.
Kalembe, who was known for her dedicated service to the community, fell ill last Thursday while at the Makueni County Assembly. She was promptly taken to Nairobi for medical attention at MP Shah Hospital.
According to her family spokesperson, Sam Ndile, her condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to her admission to the intensive care unit (ICU), where she eventually passed away.
“Magdalene fell ill suddenly on Thursday and was taken to Nairobi for treatment. Despite all efforts, her health declined, and she passed away on Tuesday evening in the ICU,” Ndile explained.
The news of Kalembe’s passing was also confirmed by former Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader and current Tourism Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua. He noted that Kalembe had been receiving treatment for dengue fever, which led to severe complications.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the Kalembe family and all those who were close to her during this time of sorrow,” said Mutua. “Magdalene’s dedication to her role as an MCA and her commitment to public service will be sorely missed.”
More information about the funeral arrangements and memorial services would be shared following discussions with Kalembe’s family.
