Disillusioned Goons Demand Payment for Participation in Disruptive Protests

A group of disillusioned individuals, described as ‘goons’, have come forward demanding payment for their participation in the recent #OccupyEverywhere protests that took place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

In a video shot during nighttime, these individuals openly express their grievances, accusing unnamed politicians of betrayal despite their active involvement in the demonstrations.

The video, circulating widely on social media, features one of the goons holding a ‘rungu’ and addressing their employers directly.

“We were called in the morning to go to City Hall. We were 50 people, with our fellow youths. They gave us these clubs,” the individual states, visibly frustrated.

“You gave us work until some were tear-gassed… Right now we are calling your phones but they are not being answered. We have protected their property. You will pay us our money!”

According to media reports, state intelligence and security agencies are monitoring six politicians, a businessman, and two NGOs on suspicion of their involvement in fueling the ongoing anti-government protests.

Tuesday’s protests, initially intended to be peaceful, were marred by widespread incidents of looting, vandalism, and violence, allegedly orchestrated by these shadowy figures acting on behalf of politicians and other undisclosed benefactors. The disruption led to the withdrawal of many peaceful demonstrators and leaders from the protests.
