Moses Kuria removes CS title from X page after Cabinet dissolution
Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has promptly removed the title of CS from his X (formerly Twitter) profile following President William Ruto’s announcement of the Cabinet’s dissolution on Thursday. Kuria’s X profile now only mentions his Head of State Commendation Award given by former President Mwai Kibaki on December 12, 2009. However, Kuria’s Facebook page still displayed the title of a Cabinet Minister.
President Ruto’s decision to dissolve the Cabinet included firing all Cabinet Secretaries except Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi. The move was explained by Ruto as a result of reflection and listening to the desires of the Kenyan people.
A spot check on the social media pages of other Cabinet Secretaries revealed that most had not yet updated their profiles to reflect their new status. This comes as President Ruto emphasized that the government would continue to function under the guidance of Principal Secretaries during the transition period.
The list of all the Cabinet Secretaries dismissed by President Ruto includes:
- Rebecca Miano – Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry
- Kithure Kindiki – Interior and National Administration
- Alice Wahome – Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development
- Susan Nakhumicha – Ministry of Health
- Peninah Malonza – Ministry of East African Community, The ASALs, and Regional Development
- Alfred Mutua – Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife
- Moses Kuria – Ministry of Public Service Performance, and Delivery Management
- Aisha Jumwa – Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts, and Heritage
- Njuguna Ndung’u – National Treasury and Planning
- Aden Duale – Defence
- Kipchumba Murkomen – Roads and Transport
- Roselinda Soipan Tuya – Environment and Forestry
- Zachariah Mwangi Njeru – Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation
- Mithika Linturi – Agriculture and Livestock Development
- Ezekiel Machogu – Education
- Salim Mvurya – Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs
- Eliud Owalo – Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy
- Simon Chelugui – Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development
- Ababu Namwamba – Youth Affairs and Sports
- Florence Bore – Labour and Social Protection
President Ruto’s decision to dissolve the Cabinet and the subsequent steps to reassemble a new government aim to address the critical issues facing Kenya, including debt management, job creation, and corruption elimination. This significant shake-up in the government structure reflects a push towards a more efficient and responsive administration.
