Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome’s resignation was marked by a poignant final message to President William Ruto, pleading for the protection of Kenyan lives amidst rising violence.

Koome’s departure underscored his frustration with the government’s inaction against escalating brutality and the harsh response to peaceful protests.

In his heartfelt message, Koome urged President Ruto to halt the cycle of violence that had resulted in numerous fatalities, criticizing the administration’s approach to handling dissent and unrest.

His appeal highlighted the need for a more humane and effective strategy to address the grievances of the Kenyan people, who have been protesting against economic hardships and political oppression.

Despite Koome’s efforts to bring attention to these issues, his concerns appeared to fall on deaf ears.

President Ruto’s administration continued its firm stance, often clashing with the judiciary and critics who opposed his policies.

This strained relationship between the police force and the executive branch ultimately led to Koome’s resignation, symbolizing a broader struggle for justice and accountability within the country’s governance structures.
