DAP-K Speaks Out After Fake Letter Claims Eugene Wamalwa Was Removed as Party Leader
The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has strongly denied claims that its party leader, Eugene Wamalwa, was expelled from his position.
This comes after a letter circulated widely on social media, suggesting that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) held an emergency meeting and resolved to remove Wamalwa with immediate effect.
DAP-K has dismissed the letter as completely fake and misleading. The party clarified that no such NEC meeting took place and no official decision was made regarding any leadership changes.
According to the party, the document was intentionally created to misinform the public and stir confusion within the party.
The fake letter claimed that Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya had been selected as the new party leader and that Ayub Savula would take over as deputy party leader.
It also included a forged signature naming Seth Panyako as the acting secretary general — a claim the party has categorically rejected.
DAP-K emphasized that its leadership structure remains unchanged and intact. They assured members and supporters that any genuine updates or announcements about internal matters would only come from verified and trusted sources.
The party condemned the spread of falsified documents, saying such actions are meant to cause division and weaken the party ahead of important political events and campaigns.
Governor George Natembeya also dismissed the claims, stating that the letter was part of a coordinated effort by certain pro-government politicians to divide the party.
He suggested that the fake letter was aimed at interfering with the upcoming Malava parliamentary by-election to favour a government-backed candidate.
“This letter is being circulated by UDA members who know we are close to winning the Malava seat. It is a calculated attempt to confuse our supporters and distract our momentum. Ignore it completely,” Natembeya said.
He added that the party remains united and confident about securing victory in the Malava race. “Stay focused. We are on the right track, and we are taking the Malava seat. Malava is a united constituency, and this is a big win for Seth Panyako,” he insisted.
