In a bold and unprecedented move, President William Ruto has dismissed his entire Cabinet, sparing only Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.
This decisive action comes in the wake of widespread protests led by Gen Z, who have accused several Cabinet Secretaries of corruption, incompetence, and mismanagement of public funds.
Former Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management CS Moses Kuria has publicly acknowledged the pivotal role of Gen Z in this significant political shake-up.
“I’ve been calling them the generation of Uber and fish fingers. They have proven me wrong,” Kuria told Citizen TV.
His comments reflect a deep-seated regret for previously underestimating the impact and determination of the younger generation.
Kuria’s change of heart marks a significant shift in his perspective. He admitted that his earlier remarks about the youth were unwarranted and that their fearless actions had spurred a much-needed change in the country’s governance.
“Now the Uber and the fish fingers people have shown me they can take this country forward. If I had a wish, I would want to be a Gen Z,” he stated, highlighting his newfound respect and admiration for the younger generation.
The former CS also pointed out the internal divisions within the Cabinet, which hindered effective governance. According to Kuria, these issues contributed to the Cabinet’s downfall.
“We had our problems, even to have a Cabinet committee was a problem, and we needed to give the president a chance to reconvene his Cabinet,” he explained.
His candid admission underscores the systemic issues that plagued the Cabinet and the necessity for a fresh start under President Ruto’s leadership.
The protests led by Gen Z have not only highlighted the power of collective action but also demonstrated the potential of the youth to drive meaningful political and social change.
Kuria’s praise for Gen Z reflects a broader recognition of their role in shaping the future of Kenya.
As the country watches closely, President Ruto’s new Cabinet will be under immense scrutiny to deliver on the promises of transparency and efficiency.
The youth’s involvement in this transformative process signals a new era of accountability and civic engagement in Kenyan politics.
