Kendi Kinyua, popularly known as Makena from the TV series “The Real Househelps of Kawangware,” has made a public appeal for job opportunities as she faces financial difficulties and project delays.
In a heartfelt video posted on her Facebook account, Kinyua revealed her current struggle to provide for her family as a parent.
The actress, who gained prominence through her role in the series depicting the lives of househelps in Nairobi, expressed her desperation and readiness to take on any job that comes her way.
“I’m kindly requesting, if you know of a job opportunity mahali wewe niambie. Manze mi natafuta job. I have papers, niko na talent, na pia sichagui,” Kinyua said, emphasizing her willingness to work in any capacity.
She underscored her preparedness with official documents and her acting talent.
Kinyua disclosed that she has several projects in the pipeline which have yet to yield financial returns.
“Hakuna job siezi fanya. It’s not easy when you are a parent and you can’t provide. Personally nasikia nimefika mwisho ndio niamue kukuja to the public. I have projects that haven’t started paying yet. It’s demoralising when unaangalia hata projects uko nazo you need money at the end of the day to have them implemented or rather to execute them,” she said.
Since “The Real Househelps of Kawangware” went off air, Kinyua has not participated in any major TV program, which has compounded her financial difficulties.
She is now seeking opportunities both locally and abroad, stating that her passport is ready for international engagements.
“This is not clout-chasing or anything; I’m kindly looking for a job. If you know of any opportunity mahali niambie, hata kama ni nje my passport is ready. Please,” Kinyua pleaded.
Kinyua’s appeal highlights the often-overlooked challenges faced by actors and other professionals in the entertainment industry, shedding light on the personal and financial hardships that can follow public success.
