On August 10, 2024, newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho, humorously announced his intention to find a second wife while overseeing development projects in Kirinyaga County.

Joho, who officially assumed office on August 9, 2024, made the remarks during a visit to the area, where he is set to focus on local initiatives, including the fish project aimed at creating employment for the youth.

Speaking to residents, Joho playfully requested Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru to assist him in finding a young wife.

“Mimi nimeuliza Anne Waiguru, tafadhali tafutia mimi nyumba ndogo, bibi mdogo, nahamia hapa,” Joho said.

Joho also emphasized his dedication to the government’s projects and his role in supporting President William Ruto’s administration.

He reassured residents of his commitment to ensuring that key initiatives, such as the fish project, are completed successfully.

“Niko ndani ya serikali ya William Samoei Ruto. Hapa ni job tu my friend, hakuna mchezo.”

In his address, Joho addressed recent speculation about political movements, asserting that he remains firmly within President Ruto’s government and that he is focused on his responsibilities.

He expressed optimism about working with local leaders and residents to achieve the government’s goals.
