Voepass Flight 2283 tragically crashed on August 9, 2024, in Vinhedo, Brazil, while en route from Cascavel to São Paulo’s Guarulhos Airport.
The plane, an ATR 72-500, was carrying 57 passengers and 4 crew members, all of whom perished in the accident.
The flight was routine until it suddenly entered a flat spin at an altitude of about 17,000 feet, plummeting towards the ground before crashing into a gated residential community.
Dramatic videos captured by onlookers show the aircraft spinning uncontrollably before it struck the ground, resulting in a fiery explosion.
The crash site, located within a residential area, fortunately, did not lead to any additional casualties on the ground, though it left a scene of devastation and smoke.
Initial reports indicate that the aircraft systems were functioning correctly when it took off, and there was no distress signal from the pilots.
Investigations are ongoing, with Brazilian authorities looking into possible causes, including weather conditions and mechanical failure.
The tragedy marks one of the deadliest aviation disasters in Brazil in recent years.
