A recent altercation between a traffic police officer and a matatu crew on Nairobi’s River Road escalated into violence, leaving the officer injured.
The incident occurred as the officer attempted to enforce traffic rules, prompting resistance from the matatu crew.
The confrontation quickly turned physical, with the officer reportedly being struck with blunt objects.
As a result, he sustained head injuries and required medical attention before being discharged.
Following the attack, the matatu crew fled the scene, abandoning their vehicle, which has since been impounded by the police.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved.

This incident has reignited concerns about the growing tensions between law enforcement officers and public transport operators in Nairobi, an issue frequently linked to frustrations over alleged corruption and harassment by the police.
The matatu tout involved in the altercation, identified as Alex Kirigu Ateya, has since been arrested and arraigned in court.
He was charged with assault but denied the accusations.
After a plea from his lawyer, Ateya was released on a cash bail of KSh 20,000.
The case is set to continue, with the prosecution preparing to call witnesses.
