The office of Kisii County Women Representative Doris Donya Aburi was recently targeted in a vandalism incident that highlighted growing unrest in the region.

Youths damaged the fence of her Kisii town office amidst protests that initially appeared peaceful but later escalated into chaos.

Some staffers believe the vandalism may have been politically motivated, alleging that certain groups hijacked the demonstrations to settle scores between rival leaders in the area.

Doris Donya, who was reportedly out of the country during the incident, expressed disappointment over the destruction of public property.

She described the damage as a disservice to taxpayers, emphasizing that such offices were established to benefit the community.

Observers linked the unrest to tensions surrounding her political stances, with local leaders accusing adversaries of fueling hostility against her through hired youths.

This attack follows a pattern of disruptions targeting the Women Representative in recent months. In earlier events, her speeches were heckled, and her official vehicle was stoned during a funeral.

These acts have raised concerns about the rising intolerance and need for stronger measures to protect leaders and public infrastructure from politically charged violence.
