Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has openly criticized Azimio leader Raila Odinga, accusing him of stifling honest dialogue and undermining parliamentary oversight.
Salasya expressed his frustration over what he perceives as Raila’s inability to accept constructive criticism from those around him.
Speaking at a recent public event, he argued that many leaders fear challenging Raila’s decisions, particularly those that seem to weaken the opposition’s role in holding the government accountable.
Salasya further accused Raila of enabling defections within his ODM party to align with President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government.
He stated that this shift compromised the opposition’s strength in advocating for the people’s interests.
Salasya also criticized Raila for supporting controversial initiatives, such as changes to development funds distribution, which Salasya believes disadvantage MPs and local constituencies in favor of county governors
In a broader critique of Raila’s leadership, Salasya pointed to inconsistencies in his stances on governance and policy matters.
He claimed that Raila’s recent support for some of Kenya Kwanza’s policies, despite public opposition, raises questions about his commitment to democratic principles.
Salasya called for leaders, including Raila, to embrace accountability and prioritize the public’s welfare over political maneuvering.
