Gachagua Accuses Ruto of Targeting Mt Kenya to Reduce Votes Before 2027
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made serious allegations against President William Ruto, accusing him of targeting the Mt Kenya region to weaken its voter strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a church service in Naivasha, Gachagua claimed that President Ruto is promoting alcoholism in the region, which he alleges is part of a deliberate strategy to destroy the lives of Mt Kenya residents and lower their voting numbers.
He alleged that after being removed from office, Ruto directed the reopening of bars and the sale of illicit brews exclusively in Mt Kenya.
According to Gachagua, these actions have already caused several deaths, and the toll continues to rise.
“The Interior Security PS was instructed by the President to reopen alcohol factories and ensure the products are sold only in Mt Kenya.
They are not sold in Rift Valley or other regions. Just yesterday, three people died in Bahati,” Gachagua claimed.
The former Deputy President further alleged that he had previously warned Ruto against such moves but was ignored.
He accused the government of intentionally allowing the sale of harmful alcohol in Mt Kenya to harm young people and reduce the region’s voter population.
“Police and chiefs have been instructed to turn a blind eye to the sale of deadly alcohol, ensuring the number of registered voters drops.
This is immoral and unacceptable. It is wrong to target a community with poison to destroy them,” he said.
Gachagua called on Ruto to visit the Mt Kenya region and address these concerns directly.
“The President must come and explain to these people why he is allowing poisonous alcohol to flood Mt Kenya, killing their children, despite their overwhelming support for him in the elections,” he added.
