In recent years, Eastleigh, Nairobi, has witnessed a series of criminal incidents targeting local businessmen, raising concerns about security in the area.
On March 30, 2024, 26-year-old businessman Adan Ali Mohamed was accosted by armed assailants on Muratina Street.
The attackers, riding a motorcycle, intercepted Mohamed, shot him in the neck, and robbed him of approximately Ksh 3.97 million. CCTV footage of the incident shows the harrowing moment when the gunman demanded the cash before fleeing the scene.
Following the attack, law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts to apprehend those responsible. Three suspects—Julius Osoro, his wife Charity Njeri Kimani, and John Michael Muturi—were arrested in connection with the robbery.
During the arrest, authorities recovered a Ceska pistol with seven bullets, suspected stolen vehicles, multiple logbooks, and assorted ATM cards.
The suspects were detained to facilitate further investigations, including ballistic analysis to determine if the recovered firearm was used in the shooting of Mohamed.
In a related development, the bodies of three individuals linked to the robbery were discovered in a river in Lari, Kiambu County. The deceased, identified as Fredrick Kopo, Jaylen Kibe, and a woman known as Esther, were reportedly involved in the attack on Mohamed.
Their bodies were later found at the city mortuary, with initial reports indicating they had drowned. The circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation, adding another layer of complexity to the case.
