Chaos in Kutus, Kirinyaga County as Butcher Attacks Man Over Ksh 50 Debt

Residents of Kutus town in Kirinyaga County staged protests on Friday, demanding justice after a shocking incident where a butcher allegedly chopped off a man’s genitals over an unpaid debt of Ksh 50.

The victim, who is currently receiving treatment at Kerugoya Referral Hospital, had reportedly been involved in an argument with the butcher on Thursday evening regarding the small debt.

According to eyewitnesses, the heated exchange took a violent turn when the butcher forcefully dragged the man into his shop and brutally mutilated him.

Anthony Njora, a local resident, narrated how the injured man, identified as Muthii, managed to stagger to his workplace despite excessive bleeding.

Upon arrival, he collapsed, prompting his employer to rush him to a nearby dispensary for first aid. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Kerugoya Referral Hospital, where he is now fighting for his life.

The horrific attack triggered outrage among residents, who gathered in large numbers, demanding the immediate arrest of the suspect. The tension escalated quickly, forcing police officers to fire warning shots in the air to disperse the furious crowd.

Authorities have since confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing as they work to bring the suspect to justice.
