Joho and Ogamba Appoint New Members to Key Government Committees
Ali Hassan Joho, the Cabinet Secretary for Mining and Blue Economy, has made new appointments to various government committees. In a move announced on February 21, Joho appointed 10 individuals to the Community Development Agreement Committee, which will represent the Kipkorgot Community in Uasin Gishu County in partnership with Carbacid (CO2) Limited.
Additionally, he appointed nine members to another Community Development Agreement Committee, which will involve the Bathi Community in Kiambu County and Carbacid (CO2) Limited.
According to a gazette notice issued on the same day, the appointed members will serve for a term of three years. The notice also referenced the Mining (Community Development Agreement) Regulations of 2017, specifically Regulation 7 (1), as the basis for these appointments.
Among the members selected in Kiambu County are Irene Kurgat, Anthony Karago Mburu, Isaiah Murithi Mutiiria, Robert Kiplangat Kosgei, David Kimani Kuria, Eliud N. Ndichu, Stephen Nyutu Wamwere, Serah Njeri Karanja, and Patrick Njenga Wamwaki.
Meanwhile, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba appointed Prof. Geoffrey Wahungu as the new Chairperson of the Nyandarua National Polytechnic Council. Wahungu’s term will also last three years, effective from February 21.
In a separate announcement, Paul Lilan was elected Chairperson of the Board of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority. Lilan’s appointment, along with four other new members, took effect on February 21 as well.
These members are Joan A. Machayo, Charles Njore Majani, Eric Ochieng, and Dr. Ehud Gachungu. Ogamba’s notice cited the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act of 2013, specifically sections 8 (3) and 8 (13), in making these appointments.
