According to the schedule, the exams will start on October 21, 2025, and will run until November 21, 2025.

KCSE Exam Schedule Breakdown

The national exams will begin on October 21, with students sitting for French, Sign Language, and German as the first subjects.

From October 22 to October 31, candidates taking practical subjects will be examined. These include Home Science, Art and Design, Woodwork, and Metalwork, among others.

Theory Exams to Start in November

The written (theory) examinations will officially commence on November 3. The first two papers of the day will be English and Chemistry, with a four-hour break in between to allow students time to prepare for the next paper.

On November 4, all students will be required to sit for their Mathematics paper, which is a compulsory subject. Later in the day, they will take the English Literature paper, which will last three hours.

The following day, November 5, students will sit for Chemistry Paper 2 in the morning, while in the afternoon, they will tackle the English Composition (Essay) paper.

Kiswahili and Religious Studies Exams

On November 6, candidates will take Kiswahili (Lugha) in the morning, followed by Kiswahili (Fasihi) in the afternoon.

After a weekend break, the second week of exams will start on November 11 with Christian Religious Education (CRE) in the morning. Later in the afternoon, students will sit for Biology Paper 1.

On November 13, Biology Paper 2 will be administered in the morning, while History and Government will follow in the afternoon session.

The second week will end with Biology practicals, where students will have one hour and 45 minutes to complete the test.

Final Week of the KCSE Exams

The last week of the 2025 KCSE exams will begin with Geography Paper 1 in the morning, followed by Physics Paper 1 in the afternoon. The next day, students will sit for Business Studies Paper 1 and Agriculture Paper 1.

On November 20, which will be the second-last day of the exams, candidates taking Business Studies and Agriculture will sit for their second papers.

The 2025 KCSE examination period will officially conclude on November 21, with students completing their final paper, Physics Paper 3 (Practical).

This marks the end of a one-month examination period that will see thousands of candidates across the country sit for their final secondary school exams. KNEC has urged all candidates to prepare well and adhere to the guidelines provided to ensure a smooth examination process.
