The Roots Party of Kenya has officially announced Caleb Sunguti as their candidate for the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election.

This marks a significant milestone for the party as Sunguti becomes the first parliamentary candidate to represent the Roots Party.

On Tuesday, March 18, Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah revealed that Caleb Sunguti had been carefully selected to run in the by-election.

Wajackoyah emphasized that the nomination process adhered strictly to the integrity guidelines set out in Chapter Six of the Kenyan Constitution, which ensures the candidates meet high ethical standards.

In his statement, Wajackoyah noted, “The Roots Party of Kenya has chosen Caleb Sunguti to represent us in the Malava by-election.

He is the first-ever parliamentary candidate for the party. He has been thoroughly vetted and meets the integrity requirements outlined in Chapter Six.”

The by-election became necessary after the passing of Moses Malulu Injendi, the former Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency, on February 17.

Injendi had been receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for several weeks before his death.

Caleb Sunguti is highly qualified for this role, holding a Bachelor of Education degree and an MBA in Project Planning and Management, which he obtained from Kenyatta University and the University of Nairobi.

Sunguti pursued his Master’s in Business Administration with a focus on project management from 2010 to 2012 at the University of Nairobi.

With over 13 years of experience as a senior lecturer at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, Sunguti has taught subjects like Public Financial Management and Project Management.

His professional journey also includes roles as a Business and Finance lecturer at Kitale National Polytechnic and KCA University.

Before transitioning to his academic career, Sunguti worked as a manager at Telkom, bringing with him a wealth of experience in both business and public affairs.

With over 25 years of experience in public service, Sunguti is seen as a strong candidate who can address the issues and needs of the people in Malava Constituency.

The Roots Party has expressed full confidence in Sunguti’s ability to represent the people of Malava effectively, relying on his solid educational background and extensive professional experience.
