The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) community is mourning the sudden loss of Fredrick Parsayo, a dedicated journalist who worked as a reporter in their editorial department.

KBC management confirmed the sad news of his death, stating that Parsayo passed away on Friday, March 21, at his residence in Kinoo, Kikuyu Constituency.

While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, investigations have already been launched to determine the cause.

The KBC statement expressed deep sorrow, stating, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague, Fredrick Parsayo, a reporter in the KBC Editorial Department.

Fredrick left us unexpectedly on Friday, March 21, 2025, under circumstances still being investigated, at his home in the Kinoo-Kikuyu Constituency. This tragic loss has deeply impacted us all.”

The local police at the Kinoo Police Station have been informed of the incident, and Parsayo’s body was transferred to St Teresa Mortuary. His family has already been notified of his passing.

KBC described Fredrick as a highly valued member of their editorial team, whose presence will be greatly missed by those who worked with him.

“On behalf of the KBC Board of Directors, Management, and all our staff, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Fredrick’s family, friends, and everyone who knew him,” the statement read.

Fredrick Parsayo joined KBC in 2021 after completing his studies at the University of Nairobi (UoN). He pursued a four-year course in Journalism and Media Studies, specializing in Broadcast Media, and graduated in 2022.

His untimely death comes nearly a year after the passing of another journalist, Rita Tinina, a former NTV reporter.

Tinina was found dead in her home in Brooklyn Springs, Kileleshwa, Nairobi, in March of the previous year.

She had been scheduled to present the 1 pm news but failed to show up, raising concern among her colleagues. An autopsy later revealed that she had passed away from pneumonia.

Fredrick’s death adds to the growing number of journalists who have tragically lost their lives recently.
