Popular media personality Vincent Mwasia Mutua, better known as Chipukeezy, has been appointed as the Assistant Director of Protocol and Events in the Office of the President.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, March 26, by Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy.

Itumbi congratulated Chipukeezy on his new role and expressed confidence in his ability to serve effectively.

“Congratulations, Chipukeezy, on your appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President!” Itumbi stated.

Quoting a Bible verse, Habakkuk 2:3, he added, “May you serve with unwavering focus and passion as we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy.”

A Return to Government Service

This new role marks Chipukeezy’s return to public service, having previously held a government position.

In 2018, he was appointed as a director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. He later rose to the position of Vice Chairperson in 2021.

As the Assistant Director of Protocol and Events, Chipukeezy will be tasked with organizing official government ceremonies, managing state functions, and ensuring adherence to diplomatic protocols.

His duties will cover a wide range of responsibilities, including protocol management, event planning, government liaison, speech preparation, public relations, and media coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Protocol Management

In his role, Chipukeezy will oversee the proper execution of diplomatic protocols during state functions.

He will be responsible for coordinating the reception, accreditation, and hosting of foreign dignitaries while also advising government officials on etiquette and diplomatic procedures.

Event Planning and Coordination

The new appointee will be in charge of organizing national celebrations, summits, and state banquets.

His role will also include managing logistics for presidential trips, both within the country and internationally, as well as ensuring VIP security arrangements in collaboration with relevant agencies.

Liaison with Government Agencies and Diplomats

Chipukeezy will act as a link between the presidency, ministries, foreign embassies, and international organizations regarding diplomatic matters.

He will facilitate communication between the Office of the President and other government offices to ensure seamless coordination of official events.

Speech and Briefing Preparations

As part of his responsibilities, Chipukeezy will assist in drafting event briefs and ensuring that the President’s speeches align with diplomatic protocols.

He will also oversee seating arrangements and maintain order of precedence at official gatherings.

Public Relations and Media Coordination

A key aspect of his role will be handling media coverage for state functions. Chipukeezy will coordinate press arrangements and manage communication regarding government events and official announcements.

From Comedy to Government Service

Chipukeezy first gained national recognition as a comedian on the widely popular Churchill Show on NTV. Over the years, he has cemented his place in Kenya’s media and entertainment industry.

His latest appointment demonstrates his growing influence and ability to transition into leadership roles beyond entertainment.

With his background in public speaking and event hosting, many expect him to bring fresh energy and creativity to his new role in government.
