Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has been summoned to appear at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road on Saturday, April 5.
This development follows the circulation of a viral video that captured her walking with a group of residents in Githunguri on the evening of Friday, April 4. In the video, the crowd was loudly chanting slogans saying “Ruto Must Go.”
The incident happened just hours before President William Ruto was scheduled to visit the area as part of his development tour across the Mt. Kenya region. His visit to Githunguri was set for the following day, April 5.
Although the DCI has not officially disclosed the reason behind the summons, many believe it is related to her alleged involvement in organizing or encouraging the anti-Ruto demonstration. Her visible presence during the protest, and the timing of the video, have sparked questions about whether it was meant to send a political message ahead of the President’s visit.
The situation has drawn public attention, with supporters and critics weighing in on whether the MP’s actions were within her rights or posed a threat to public order and security.
