In a deeply heartbreaking incident in Rachuonyo, Homabay County, a police constable has taken the lives of three children before ending his own life.

The officer, who had been stationed in Marsabit, visited his home on Sunday, April 6, when the shocking tragedy unfolded.

The officer has been identified as Constable David Okebe Goga, attached to the Marsabit Police Station.

Authorities confirmed they found a detailed suicide note at the scene, which gave disturbing instructions, including how both he and the children should be buried.

According to both the police and local residents, the children who lost their lives included two of his own and one who reportedly belonged to his in-law.

The young victims were a six-year-old boy, a five-year-old girl, and another five-year-old boy from his extended family.

Initial investigations suggest that Constable Goga gave the children poison before taking his own life. Reports indicate that he hanged himself inside his house.

The incident occurred in Kakdhimu East location, Kawiti Sublocation, Kawarwai village, within the Rachuonyo West Sub-county.

Police are continuing with investigations to establish what might have driven the officer to carry out such a disturbing act.

The community has been left in shock and mourning, as questions continue to rise about the mental well-being and support systems available to officers in service.
