TourismX Unveils 2025 Rankings of Nairobi Hotels With the Strongest Facebook Presence

TourismX, a respected tourism analytics firm based in South Africa, has officially released its first-ever Facebook social media index, showcasing the top-performing hotels in Nairobi when it comes to digital engagement, audience interaction, and online influence.

The index covered the period from January to May 2025 and highlighted which hotels are winning big in the world of social media.

In today’s fast-paced, digital-driven world, a hotel’s success is no longer measured solely by how good its rooms, meals, or services are — but also by how well it performs online, especially on platforms like Facebook, where potential guests often make their travel and hospitality decisions based on what they see and read.

TourismX created the rankings using a comprehensive, data-based scoring system that analyzed key areas such as audience growth, frequency of posts, engagement with users, and digital reach.

Their goal was to recognize hotels that are not just present online, but are actively engaging and creating meaningful interactions with their followers.

Speaking during the release of the index, Gerrit Davids, spokesperson for TourismX, emphasized the deeper purpose behind the rankings.

“This is more than just about awarding top performers,” Davids said. “It’s about encouraging Nairobi’s hotel industry to become leaders in digital storytelling and to set new standards in online hospitality engagement.”

Top Honors and Award Categories

Hotels were awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across several categories. Below are the highlights from the report:

Best Hotel Social Media Audience Growth Excellence Award

  • Gold: Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill
  • Silver: Ibis Styles Nairobi Westlands

These hotels received the highest number of likes on their posts, showing strong approval from their audiences.

While Jacaranda did not make the top three overall, they stood out in the comments category, signaling a highly talkative and engaged audience.

Most Shared/Reposted Hotel

  • Bronze: Villa Rosa Kempinski

This award went to the hotel whose content was most frequently shared, helping them reach wider audiences beyond their existing followers.

Other Honorable Mentions

Several well-known hotels were recognized for being consistently active on Facebook, even if they did not make the top tier in any specific category. These include:

  • Eka Hotel
  • Four Points by Sheraton
  • Golden Tulip
  • Hemingways Nairobi
  • Hilton Garden Inn
  • Hotel Boulevard
  • Maanzoni Lodge
  • Mercure
  • Mövenpick Hotel
  • Nairobi Serena Hotel
  • Weston Hotel

These properties were praised for maintaining a strong online presence and contributing to Nairobi’s growing reputation as a digitally forward hospitality destination.

Grand Prix Awards – Overall Social Media Hotel Champions

In recognition of their all-round digital excellence, three hotels were crowned Social Media Champions of the Year:

  • Gold Champion: Hillpark Hotel
  • Silver Champion: Fairview Hotel
  • Bronze Champion: Safari Park Hotel & Casino

These top performers consistently excelled across multiple categories, making them leaders in Nairobi’s hotel social media scene.

TourismX hopes these rankings will encourage even more hotels to embrace digital marketing and social media as essential tools for growth and guest engagement.

As travelers continue to rely heavily on online content to choose where to stay, Nairobi’s hotels are stepping up to the challenge—and some are already setting the bar.
