Governor Speaks After Woman Kills Family of 5

Isiolo County Governor Abdi Guyo has finally addressed the heartbreaking incidents that have recently shaken the county, leaving many residents in mourning and sparking heated political debate.

In a strongly worded statement released on Wednesday, July 16, Governor Guyo expressed deep sorrow over the loss of five members from one family and a separate case involving the death of a popular local blogger.

He condemned both incidents and criticized certain political figures for using these tragedies to push personal and political interests.

One of the incidents involved the tragic deaths of Halima Ware, her three children, and a cousin, who died in a fire believed to have been deliberately started.

Authorities suspect the fire was set by a woman allegedly involved in a romantic conflict with Halima. According to police sources, Halima had earlier reported receiving threats to her life, raising serious concerns about whether her safety was adequately protected.

The governor also commented on the untimely death of blogger Ismail Abdikadir, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident involving a lorry. Police investigations and eyewitness testimonies confirmed the details of the accident.

However, despite clear evidence pointing to it being an unfortunate road incident, some individuals have begun making unverified claims, attempting to link the blogger’s death to Governor Guyo’s administration.

“This is a tragic and painful time for the people of Isiolo. It’s truly disappointing that some are using such sorrowful events to further their political motives,” said Governor Guyo. “Even with the facts clearly available, there are people who are irresponsibly spreading lies, connecting my administration to the blogger’s death without any evidence at all.”

Guyo acknowledged that the county has been struggling with increasing insecurity, which has deeply affected families and communities. He assured the residents that the relevant authorities are working tirelessly to get to the bottom of these cases and ensure justice is served.

“In recent weeks, Isiolo has seen a disturbing rise in isolated killings. These violent acts have left families heartbroken and communities fearful.

I want to assure all our people that investigations are well underway, and those behind these crimes will face the law. As a government, we stand firmly with the victims’ families and remain fully committed to restoring peace and safety in every corner of the county,” he said.

Amid ongoing speculation that these incidents might be linked to the recent political turmoil in the county, including an impeachment motion against him, Governor Guyo remained calm and firm. He emphasized his commitment to the rule of law and maintained that his administration is focused on service delivery, not political battles.

He called on fellow leaders to show responsibility in their public statements and to put the needs of Isiolo residents above political ambitions. “Leaders must rise above politics during moments of pain. We must speak truthfully and responsibly, and focus on healing our community rather than deepening divisions,” the governor urged.

Governor Guyo’s remarks come at a time when Isiolo is grappling with grief and uncertainty. His message aimed to reassure the public of the county government’s efforts to ensure justice and restore public trust, even as political tensions continue to simmer.
