Several cabinet secretaries in Kenya have announced new appointments across different ministries, bringing in fresh faces to important government agencies and state corporations. The changes reflect a reshuffle aimed at boosting leadership and efficiency in various sectors.

In a Gazette notice dated Friday, August 15, Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui appointed Antony Mwangi as a new member of the Board of Directors at the Kenya Investment Authority. Mwangi will serve on the board for a period of three years.

As part of this move, CS Kinyanjui also revoked the appointment of Peter Maina Gachunga, effectively replacing him with Mwangi.

At the same time, the Trade CS appointed Joyce Kiprop as a member of the Special Economic Zones Authority.

Her appointment will also run for three years, beginning August 15, 2025. In addition, the CS reappointed Philip Coulson to continue serving as a member of the same authority for another three years starting this Friday.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba also made several notable appointments within his ministry. He brought on board Aaron Iltele Lesiantam and Racheal Njenga to serve under his leadership.

CS Ogamba further appointed Kennedy Otieno to the Board of Directors of the National Biosafety Authority, with his term expected to last three years.

Lesiantam and Njenga were additionally appointed to serve as members of the Board of Trustees for the President’s Award, also for a three-year term, beginning August 15 this year.

Meanwhile, Agriculture CS Mutahi Kagwe named Benard Kaparo as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Commodities Fund. Kaparo will serve in this position for three years as well.

In another ministry, Beatrice Asukul, the Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, made her own set of appointments.

She named Margaret Lotukoi Nasilo, Hussein Dida Sora, and Alex Kiratu as members of the Tana and Athi Rivers Development Authority Board. Their appointments are set to last for three years from Friday, August 15, 2025.

In addition, Gender Cabinet Secretary Hanna Cheptumo made changes in her ministry by appointing Dorcas Obwa and Mohammed Werer to be members of the Kenya National Library Services Board. Their terms will run for two years.

These new appointments across various ministries highlight the government’s effort to bring in new leadership, strengthen public institutions, and ensure that key agencies operate more effectively in delivering services to the public.
