Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has once again shaken up his county government leadership through a cabinet reshuffle, a move that has drawn attention across the region.
The announcement, made on Saturday, August 23, 2025, comes as part of what the Governor described as a wider plan to strengthen service delivery, improve accountability, and ensure his administration remains focused on development rather than political distractions.
Although full details of the latest changes have not yet been made public, sources close to the county government confirm that several County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and senior directors have been reassigned to new roles.
Governor Lusaka reportedly used the occasion to remind civil servants to concentrate on their official duties instead of engaging in early political campaigns, warning that laxity and divided attention would not be tolerated.
This is not the first time Governor Lusaka has restructured his team. In June 2025, he made a major reshuffle that saw several top officials shifted between key dockets.
For instance, Chrispinus Barasa moved from Finance to head the Health department, while Caro Makali took charge of Finance after serving in Health. At the same time, Andrew Wamukoya was reassigned from Economic Planning to the Governor’s Office.
At the director level, Ambrose Makokha was posted to Health as Director of Finance, while Gregory Furaha took over as Director of Accounting Services. Other realignments included Leonard Nandemu’s transfer to Agriculture and Joleaf Chongwony’s posting to Livestock.
In addition to these reassignments, Lusaka also introduced new positions to address emerging needs. Notably, Adrian Sakwa was appointed as an Advisor on Gender Affairs, a move that was seen as an effort to give more attention to gender and inclusivity matters in the county.
The Governor justified these changes as part of his broader strategy to place individuals where their strengths could be fully utilized, ultimately boosting service delivery.
Earlier, in November 2024, another reshuffle had been carried out, largely aimed at balancing gender and regional representation within the cabinet.
That round of appointments saw leaders such as Agnes Wachiye (Education), Dr. Monica Fedha (Trade), Benedict Emachar (Gender), Dr. Wanyonyi Wamamili (Public Service), Beatrice Nakhumicha, and Timothy Wanjala take up critical roles in youth, sports, and cooperatives.
The fresh shake-up announced this weekend signals that Governor Lusaka is determined to keep refining his leadership team. Political analysts believe the changes are meant to tighten internal management and prepare the county administration to handle the pressures of service delivery as the next election cycle gradually approaches.
For now, residents of Bungoma are waiting for the official list of new postings, which is expected to shed light on who has been moved, promoted, or reassigned.
What remains clear is that Lusaka is keen on ensuring that his government maintains discipline, performance, and focus on development projects that matter most to the people of Bungoma.
