Three auction firms—two based in Nairobi and one in Machakos County—have issued public notices announcing upcoming auctions involving vehicles, motorcycles, and various household goods.
The firms have urged owners to reclaim their items within 30 days or risk losing them through public sale.
In a gazette notice published on October 31, Startruck Car Yard Storage revealed that it plans to auction a wide range of uncollected vehicles, motorcycles, tuk-tuks, and trucks that have been stored at its yard for an extended period.
The company said that if the rightful owners wish to recover their property, they must first clear all accumulated storage charges, interest, publication expenses, and any other related costs.
According to the notice, brands to be auctioned include FH, Tata, Mazda Familia, Toyota Probox, Isuzu EFL, Hino, Toyota Land Cruiser, and SkyGo motorcycles.
Startruck further stated that any unclaimed items will be disposed of through a public auction, tender, or private sale conducted by Green Bells Auctioneer, located at Idge House, 3rd Floor, Munyu Road, Nairobi.
The proceeds from the sale will go toward settling all outstanding charges, and no further notice will be given to the owners.
In a separate announcement, Taylor Matthews Limited declared that it would also auction or sell a wide range of household and commercial items that remain uncollected at its Syokimau premises.
These include furniture, electrical appliances, home décor, utensils, cutlery, beddings, clothes, paintings, portraits, and other personal or commercial goods.
The company explained that the items are currently being stored at its premises located at Emerald Business Park, Kutch Road, Syokimau.
It warned owners that if they fail to settle all outstanding storage fees within 30 days, their items will be sold off either through a public auction or private treaty.
“The proceeds from the sale will first be used to offset the accumulated storage charges,” the company stated. “If there is any remaining balance, it will be credited to the owner.
However, if the sale proceeds do not cover the full amount owed, the owner will still be responsible for paying the shortfall.”
Meanwhile, Bellway Auctioneers has received authorization from Oilers Auto Garage to auction two unclaimed motor vehicles currently stored at the garage along Changamwe Road in Nairobi.
The owners of these vehicles have been advised to pay all pending storage fees within 30 days to reclaim their cars. Failure to do so will lead to their disposal through either a public auction or private sale.
“The vehicles will be sold either by public auction conducted by Bellway Auctioneers at Upperhills Spring, Mara Road, Nairobi, or by private treaty,” the notice read. “The funds raised will be used to cover all accumulated storage charges.
Any remaining balance will be credited to the owner, but if the sale does not fully cover the amount owed, the owner will be responsible for settling the difference.”
These announcements serve as a final warning to owners of unclaimed property to take immediate action before the auction dates arrive.
Once the sales are conducted, ownership of the items will officially transfer to the buyers, and the former owners will lose all rights to their property.
