Gachagua Party Unveils New Strategy Ahead of 2027

Gachagua’s Party Launches Youth-Centered Strategy Ahead of 2027 Elections

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens’ Party (DCP) has introduced a fresh, youth-driven plan aimed at winning the hearts of Kenya’s young people as the 2027 General Elections draw closer.

The new approach, unveiled on Wednesday, November 5, at the DCP headquarters in Nairobi, focuses on empowering and involving young citizens in shaping the country’s political future.

During the launch, DCP Youth Leader Wanjiku Thiga said the youth wing was determined to revolutionize Kenyan politics and expand the party’s influence nationwide. Addressing a gathering that included Rigathi Gachagua and Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala,

Thiga declared that young people were ready to take charge of their destiny and elect leaders who truly represent their aspirations.

“We are the generation that refuses to be silenced. We understand that our revolution will not be televised; it will be organized,” Thiga passionately stated, drawing loud applause from the youthful crowd.

As part of the forum, which was also attended by senior party officials, Thiga unveiled a Youth Training Manual, describing it as the ‘political bible’ for young aspirants.

She explained that the manual is designed to equip emerging leaders with political knowledge, leadership skills, and the DCP’s guiding values.

The training, she added, will help nurture a generation of principled leaders who are courageous, independent-minded, and focused on transforming the nation.

“Through this initiative, we will build capacity, sharpen minds, and create a new breed of leaders—unbought, unbowed, and unstoppable,” Thiga emphasized.

To strengthen its presence ahead of the elections, the DCP announced a comprehensive plan that includes training and supporting over 300 young aspirants across the country.

The party also revealed its intention to open youth offices in all 47 counties, mobilize at least three million young voters, and launch university and college chapters to spread its ideology among students.

Thiga further noted that one of the party’s major goals is to increase youth representation in both national and county governments. She pointed out that currently, only 52 out of 330 Members of Parliament are youth, a figure the DCP hopes to significantly raise in 2027.

To make political participation more accessible, she urged the party leadership to waive nomination fees for youth candidates, saying financial barriers discourage many from vying for leadership positions.

The youth leader also spoke strongly on gender equality, stressing that the inclusion of young women in leadership must be a top priority. Out of 1,450 elected MCAs in Kenya, Thiga highlighted that only 12 are young women, a statistic she termed unacceptable.

“Fulfilling the two-thirds gender rule should not be seen as a constitutional burden but as a moral responsibility,” she said. “We must ensure young women stand shoulder to shoulder with young men in positions of power.”

Gachagua and Malala both commended the youth wing for taking bold steps to energize the party’s base and promised continued support to ensure the vision of a vibrant, youth-led political movement becomes a reality.

The DCP’s latest strategy signals a major shift in Kenya’s political landscape, placing the youth at the heart of decision-making and leadership.

With more than 75% of Kenya’s population under the age of 35, the party hopes this approach will not only increase political participation among young people but also inspire a new generation of leaders ready to shape the future of the nation.
