Fuel prices will stay the same for the next month after the latest review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). The agency released its new pricing guide on Friday, November 14, confirming that there will be no increase or decrease in the cost of major fuel products.
According to the review, the pump prices for Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene in Nairobi will remain at Ksh184.52, Ksh171.47, and Ksh154.78 respectively.
These prices will apply across all petrol stations in the capital, with slight variations expected only in other regions due to transportation and distribution differences.
EPRA explained that the new prices will officially take effect from Saturday, November 15, and will remain valid until Sunday, December 14.
This pricing cycle follows the standard monthly review that the authority carries out to protect consumers from unfair pricing while allowing fuel marketers to recover their costs.
In its statement, EPRA noted that the pricing has been done in accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022. These laws guide how maximum fuel prices are calculated and ensure that the process remains transparent and predictable.
The authority also clarified that the published prices already include the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT). This is in line with the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024, and the updated excise duty rates, which were adjusted for inflation as required by Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020. EPRA added that these legal requirements help standardize fuel taxation across the country.
With prices remaining unchanged, motorists and households using kerosene for cooking or lighting can expect some stability over the next one month.
EPRA is expected to issue the next review in mid-December, depending on global oil prices, exchange rates, and other economic factors.
