Hassan Joho Warns ODM Against Plans to Expel Him: “Kama Mbaya, Mbaya”
Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho has issued a strong warning to leaders within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), claiming that some members are quietly plotting to remove him from the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Joho made the remarks on Saturday, November 15, during the ODM party’s 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa, where he delivered a fiery speech that immediately sparked political discussions across the country.
Joho Claims There Are Plans to Push Him Out of ODM
While addressing party supporters and leaders, Joho suggested that a section of ODM members wants him out because of his open support for President William Ruto’s broad-based government.
He said he was aware of internal plans targeting him and made it clear that he would not sit back silently if anyone tried to chase him away from the party he helped build from the ground up.
Joho reminded the audience that he has been loyal to ODM since he began his political journey at the age of 20. He stated that his long years of sacrifice should not be dismissed or used against him now that political dynamics are shifting.
Joho: “If You Come for Me, I Will Come for You”
The former Mombasa governor delivered one of his strongest statements yet, stressing that he would match any political attack with equal force. According to him, no one within ODM should imagine that they can intimidate or push others out without facing resistance.
“Do not think you can use some of us as bait or sacrifice,” Joho said. “For some of us, our blood is fire. If you bring it, we bring it. If you come for us, we come for you. If you chase us, we will chase you. We will square it out. If you pursue me, I will pursue you.”
His remarks signaled a deepening internal conflict within the party, especially between leaders who support ODM’s traditional direction and those who have recently aligned themselves with President Ruto’s political approach.
Joho Says He Will Not Be a Sacrificial Lamb
Joho insisted that he would fight back if anyone tried to make him a scapegoat. He warned that pushing loyal members out could have serious consequences for the unity of ODM, even suggesting that such actions could weaken or split the party.
“It is important that we defend this party,” he said. “You cannot sacrifice us or scheme to remove us. Some of us are capable of fighting back. We have given too much to this party to allow anyone to undermine us.”
After his speech, Joho continued his message on social media, where he praised the founders of ODM for building the party through resilience, personal sacrifice, and strong conviction.
“ODM stands strong today because of the quiet but courageous sacrifices we made as its founders,” he posted. “We faced uncertainty, stood firm during difficult moments, and chose conviction over convenience. This party was built on struggle, vision, and shared hope.”
President Ruto Reveals Oburu Oginga’s Role in Broad-Based Government
In a separate development, President William Ruto shared new details about the formation of the broad-based government and the role played by Siaya senator Oburu Oginga.
Speaking at the ODM Founders’ Dinner in Mombasa on November 15, the president said the late Raila Odinga trusted Oburu deeply and often relied on him when making important political decisions.
According to Ruto, Oburu was the one who crafted the structure of the ministries under the broad-based government arrangement. He added that in every major political engagement involving Raila, Oburu was always present as the trusted confidant and witness.
The president recalled that during discussions on establishing the current broad-based government, Raila referred him directly to Oburu, showing the extent of his influence and importance in those talks.
