ODM MP Caleb Amisi Announces 2027 Presidential Bid to Challenge President Ruto
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has boldly announced that he will vie for the presidency in the August 2027 General Election, positioning himself as a direct challenger to President William Ruto.
His declaration comes at a time when Kenya’s political scene is already shifting, with new alliances and ambitions emerging across the country.
Amisi made the announcement on Sunday during a roadside address to residents of Luanda town and Mudete in Vihiga County.
He said his decision to run for the highest office is driven by a desire to restore Kenya’s dignity and rebuild the nation, which he believes has been weakened by what he terms as poor leadership and wrong priorities under the current administration.
The ODM legislator criticised President Ruto, accusing him of placing personal political interests above the needs of ordinary citizens.
He also claimed that the President has been misusing leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, to push selfish agendas instead of focusing on development and improving the lives of Kenyans.
Amisi told the crowd that he intends to return to the area on the 9th of the month, not as a candidate for lower positions such as MCA, Woman Representative, or Senator, but as a presidential aspirant seeking support to lead the country.
He emphasised that he wants to offer Kenyans new leadership, better governance, and a fresh direction for the nation’s future.
By officially throwing his hat into the ring this early, Amisi adds a new twist to the fast-changing political landscape as the race to 2027 continues to heat up.
