Seth Panyako and Philip Aroko Speak Out After Defeat in By-Elections
Malava parliamentary aspirant Seth Panyako and Kasipul candidate Philip Aroko have spoken publicly for the first time after losing in the just-concluded nationwide by-elections held on Thursday, November 27.
Panyako, who ran on a DAP-Kenya ticket, and Aroko, who vied as an Independent, issued detailed statements on Friday, November 28, reacting to the outcomes and sharing their perspectives on what transpired during the mini-polls.
In his strongly-worded statement, Panyako dismissed the results announced in Malava, claiming that the election was marred by serious irregularities.
He alleged that electoral malpractice occurred in 54 polling stations, insisting that he had secured clear victories in 134 out of the 198 stations.
He accused government agencies of working to disrupt the process, claiming that deliberate chaos was created in Malava to intimidate both him and his supporters.
According to Panyako, these tensions were meant to discourage his team from fully participating in the election.
“We won in 134 out of 198 polling stations, yet they still managed to interfere with the people’s will. They used 54 polling stations to manipulate the results,” he said.
Despite the situation, Panyako expressed deep appreciation to his supporters, acknowledging their courage and loyalty even during moments of fear, tension, and alleged threats to his life.
“My Malava people, thank you. Your trust, loyalty, and love have not wavered.
To those who chose to undermine your will, their judgment will come. Even with chaos around us and attempts on my life, you remained strong,” he added.
The DAP-Kenya candidate insisted that the by-election results do not define his political journey. He maintained that he does not consider himself defeated and promised to continue participating actively in regional politics.
“I have not lost this election, so it cannot dictate my political future. Thank you once again,” Panyako stated firmly.
Meanwhile, in Kasipul Constituency, Independent candidate Philip Aroko also shared his thoughts after the race. In a warm and emotional message, he thanked his supporters for standing by him throughout the election period.
He described the campaign as a long journey filled with lessons, challenges, and moments that demonstrated the community’s unity and determination.
Aroko noted that even though the path was not easy, the passion and energy shown by the people of Kasipul made the entire experience meaningful.
“To my cherished constituents and supporters in Kasipul and across the country, I express my deepest and most sincere gratitude for your genuine love and support,” Aroko said.
He added, “This journey has truly shown your commitment. Although we faced difficult moments, your spirit made every step worth taking. I was deeply touched by the overwhelming passion and concern you all displayed.”
Both Panyako and Aroko have promised to remain active voices in their regions, stressing that their political ambitions remain alive despite the outcomes of the by-elections.
